Fall/Winter Blush Faves

I shared my lipstick picks of the season here, and since I’m trying not to be tempted to buy new makeup (excluding the occasional lipstick-ha!) I thought I’d sort through my stash and check out what I got. Hopefully, I’ll actually finish up one of these enough to have to buy something new!

Hourglass Mood Exposure. When I first got the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette this was my least favorite shade. Even the swatch looks like it wouldn’t show up much on my skin. When I first tried it, I didn’t realize I needed to build it up more because the other two shades easily showed up on my skin. But when I gave it another chance and layered it more, it pulls this pretty plummy pink shade and it has great lasting power. It strange because when swatched on my forearm its so pale looking, but it doesn’t translate that way on my cheeks.

Tarte Exposed. I think the fact that this is the only blush I’ve ever hit pan on is a testament to my love for it. It’s my go-to during the colder months, the nude pink shade just goes with every makeup look. It doesn’t compete too much when you’re going for a smoky eye or bold lip, it just complements everything.

e.l.f. Mellow Mauve. I’ll admit this isn’t the highest quality blush, but for $3 I don’t mind. It’s the mauve pink color that keeps me going back to it. It actually pulls more of a soft purple when I wear it and I just don’t have anything else like it.

Bobbi Brown Pale Pink. This bright pink blush is perfect for that ‘just got in from the cold’ look. I like it when I’m doing just winged liner, mascara and pinky nude lips and I’ve lost my summer tan. It really gives a beautiful flush to your cheeks.

Wet n Wild Heather Silk. This drugstore blush packs a punch, you definitely want to go easy when you apply this. If you don’t dust off the excess before sweeping it on you can go from cute to clownish in seconds. For a drugstore blush it has crazy pigmentation. I think this is the deepest pink shade that I own. This is also good for when you’re going relatively simple on the eyes and lips.

What blush are you reaching for most lately?
