New brand discovery: Belif Eucalyptus Toner, Facial Scrub, and Aqua Bomb Review

Korean skincare seems to be the thing of the moment as of late, with U.S. retailers like Sephora starting to stock their shelves with K-Beauty products. And for good reason, I think we’ve all heard how amazing it is and how seriously women in Asia take their skincare. I remember it all starting with BB creams, which I never really got fully into because the shades they came in were just way too light for me. When Sephora started carrying Tony Moly, I started trying a few more things, but I haven’t gone much further than the occasional sheet mask since then. I’ve been pretty satisfied with my skincare routine, but I couldn’t resist the lure of even better skin. So as I started to run out of the some of my usuals I decided to replace them with new Korean skincare. I ended up liking my first buy so much that I decided to stay within the same brand.

Belif Eucalyptus Extract Toner. This purchase was definitely driven by the reviews, a majority of them being raves. This toner has eucalyptus and apple extract and is meant to help balance and soothe combination to oily skin. It has a nice light scent and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped. It seems to help heal my breakouts and I feel like my skin is more clear more often since I started using it. My T-zone also isn’t as oily when I wake up in the morning. I can’t say that it has made my pores any smaller though. Overall, I was very pleased with this toner and would recommend it.

Belif Mild and Effective Facial Scrub. I’d ran out of the daily exfoliating cleanser I’d been using every morning and while I think it’s great, I wanted to try something new. Some of the reviewers actually said that they could see the dead skin sloughing off (gross, but strangely satisfying). This scrub is meant to be used once or twice a week. It looks like your typical gel cleanser with microbeads. The first time I used it, my initial thought was, “This isn’t gonna work, there aren’t enough scrubbies.” But after a few seconds I felt something else as I rubbed and on closer inspection I saw what people were taking about-your dead skin actually starts to ‘pill’ off. You’re only supposed to massage it in for 30 seconds, honestly I probably do it for a little longer. Nothing crazy happened and my skin is in no way irritated. It doesn’t necessarily feel smoother like after using a good physical exfoliant, but it does feel more like ‘fresh’ skin. I don’t know how else to describe it. I only use it once a week, honestly I’m kind of scared to try it twice for fear of rubbing too much skin off! It really does work and this was another win.

Belif The true cream-aqua bomb. This moisturizer has been pretty hyped about and is the reason I initially heard about the brand, so I decided to give the sample size a try since it was available as a point perk. I’d run out of my Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation and wanted something more hydrating for the winter. This is a light blue gel moisturizer with a slight citrusy scent. It’s targeted towards more oily skin types, there is a cream version for dry skin.  It absorbs well and I do find it more moisturizing than the Sheer Transformation. It doesn’t leave my skin looking greasy at all. I like it more for the daytime, I still like using a heavier cream at night. My sample is just about gone so I’ll be purchasing the full size soon.

Overall, I’m glad I decided to try out Belif and will likely try out more from them! If you’ve tried any of these products or anything else from the brand, please share what you think down below.

Random Monday post just because…

Quick post on a Monday because this just happened.

I know I’m not the only one who gets excited when one of these lands on her doorstep. I desperately needed a new moisturizer and I like ordering online since there are so many more bonus perks to choose from compared to in-store. Here’s what I got.

Only two items were actually purchased.

I ran out of my Ole Henriken Nuture Me Moisturizer and since winter is coming I can already feel my skin is drying out a little. I’ve been using the Sheer Transformation day and night and I can tell it’s not enough. I also ran out of the Tara Harper daily exfoliating cleanser I’d actually really enjoyed, but I’m always looking to try something new. Since I started using the Belif Eucalyptus Extract Toner, I’ve been wanting to try more from the brand. So I got the Mild and Effective Facial Scrub for some gentle exfoliation.

For the deluxe perks, I got the Ole Henriksen Discover the Glow because I love having the mini Truth Serum Collagen Booster for travel and I’ve wanted to try the Melting Cleanser. I broke out when using the moisturizer included here, but I’ll probably give it to my mom to see if she likes it. I also chose the Bite Beauty trio of lipstick & lipgloss in Kir Royale, a gorgeous berry shade I couldn’t resist, plus a cute little mini mirror.

I wanted to try the Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb as well, so I got a that sample as well. I’ll probably to a review of all the Belif items I’ve tried once I’ve used them all. I’ve tried the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate before and really liked it. But it’s so expensive, I couldn’t bring myself to get the full size. The shades in this mini Smashbox duo were so pretty, and I’ve actually always been intrigued by their Full Exposure palette. Maybe this mini will convince me to get it. I’ve tried another Clinique mini mascara in the past and liked it, I’m hoping I like the High Impact as well. They actually don’t smudge much for a non-waterproof formula.

Lastly, I got a little sample of the Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate from Clarins, I’m always a sucker for eye cram samples.

And just a few quick swatches of the lip products and eye shadows.

Has anyone tried these products? Thoughts?

A little Sephora show & tell.

This is by no means a haul or anything, M needed more cologne and I like to rack up points whenever possible. It was a last minute purchase during the whole ‘4x the points’ promotion going on last week. I unfortunately still did not have enough points to get one of the supersize point perks, but I thought I’d share what I threw in for myself and the little extras that came along with our purchase. Of course, I couldn’t wait to tear the package open when it arrived.

I’m running low on my usual Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Tonic and don’t have a backup waiting in the wings. I’d been planning on trying the Pixi toner from Target, but the ones on the shelves at my local stores had the protective plastic seals broken. I’ve been hearing good things about Belif and thought I’d try their Eucalyptus herbal extract toner since so far it seems to have great reviews. Okay there are only 9 so far, but they’re so good I feel like I must try this stuff. I’m waiting to finish up my OH, but I’ll report back on how this works after a couple of weeks.

This order ended up in maintaining my VIB Rouge status til the end of 2016. As a consolation prize, they are giving the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in So Rouge. I swatched what I could down below if you’re curious about it. It definitely glided on easily, it seems to be very creamy and pigmented. The shade is pretty, kind of a berry red, not what I’d usually gravitate towards, but I’ll give it a go. If I’m loving it, the shade is available in full-size to VIB Rouge members.

The 100 point perks I chose include the Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil and the Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation in Nude. I’ve really wanted to try this foundation, I’m pretty sure Nude isn’t my shade, but at least I’ll have an idea how the formula performs. I also got the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lovecraft, a mauve nude, which I’m pretty sure I’m going to like from the swatch. I also got a Buxom eye shadow in Mink Magnet, apparently the brand is adding customizable eye shadow palettes to their line and this is one of the single shadows. And this stuff is buttery. The formula is supposed to be “infused with primer”. It’s also a bronze shimmer which is right up my alley. If this applies and looks as gorgeous as it swatches, I may need to get me some of these. I mean, after I run out of one of the shadows I already have, of course. It takes me forever to run out of an eye shadow (meaning I never have) and I feel like I won’t be buying any new ones for awhile so it’s nice to at least get these little ‘freebies’ to hold me over.

I also got a VIB Rouge appreciation gift bag filled with some pretty good samples. There’s a small tube of Benefit’s Porefessional Primer and two fragrances, Elizabeth & James Nirvana (which I actually like from a quick sniff test) and Chloe (I have a bottle of this, I like it in the fall). They also included a Glam Glow Daily Exfoliating Face Wash, L’Occitane hand cream, MUFE Smoky Extravagant mascara, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (perfect for travel), and a Sephora Rouge Infusion in Peony (I checked them website and it’s supposed to be a lip stain). I actually think the makeup bag is pretty cute too, and is more compact than the last one I got from them.

And some swatches of the lip products and eye shadow.

I’m excited to test some of these things out tomorrow and report back soon! It’s been hard not shopping for makeup and picking up every new thing, but satisfying at the same time. I never use up anything because I have so much to bounce between its just impossible. I feel like I could actually hit pan on something this year (other than powder foundation). But the little point perks and sample bags make it a little easier to curb my makeup appetite.

Have you tried any of these items yet? Thoughts?
