Winter wear for those ‘warmer’ days.

Mossimo for Target faux leather jacket, H&M V-neck button down, Hudson jeans, Sam Edelman ‘Peter’ booties, grey Mossimo for Target infinity scarf

It hit 50 degrees today, which constitutes ‘warmer’ weather for a New England winter. We went to celebrate my nephew’s first birthday today and it was so much fun! Ava had a great time and did so well, she has a hard time in large crowds sometimes, but today I was so proud of her. She hung out with grandma and grandpa for awhile, ate well, and wanted to walk around all over the place (with me holding her hand of course). Anyway, I wanted to share what I like to wear on days like these that aren’t so frigid.

I put away my down coat and threw on my faux leather jacket that I got from Target over a white button down and black jeans. I wore my flat Sam Edelman booties and threw on a grey scarf for a little warmth. Simple, not dressed up, but still put together.

My makeup leaned towards the cooler side all around, which I don’t normally do, but I really like how it came out. I’ve been obsessed with wearing Nars Audacious lipstick in Barbara with Rimmel lip liner in Innocent. Cooler toned nudes usually don’t look good on me, but this one works because it’s more of a browner nude. My left eyelid has been crazy lately, after I turned 30 I noticed the crease can change day to day. It seems like the skin is thinning in that area and it’s as puffy as it used to be. Ah, the joys of growing older.

I hope you all had as great of a day as we did! And of course I’ll share what Ava wore, too.

Wearing lately: Making old things new again.

Arden B. sweater & jeans, Forever 21 tank, Sam Edelman boots

I’ve been shopping my closet a lot lately because, let’s face it, kids ain’t a cheap. And I only have one. So I’m trying to show some love to the things in my closet I don’t wear often, but can’t quite bear to part with. I’ve had these jeans and this long, open cardigan from Arden B. forever. I know this because the last time I shopped at that store I was still in college. I know I wore them a lot when I first bought them, but I didn’t even really wear them much pre-pregnancy when I could fit into them. Since there wasn’t anything really ‘wrong’ with either item I couldn’t get rid of them. Yes, I’m a major clothes/make-up hoarder (says my husband). Anyway, the days are getting cooler, but not so much that I need a jacket and a sweater will usually do. So I threw this over a basic white tank and paired it with some distressed jeans and boots. I tucked the tank into my jeans to keep the look a little neater since all the pieces are relatively relaxed in fit. I also added this double chain necklace from Stella & Dot.

Loving necklaces with a bolder chain

So while it’s true I need to do some major editing in my closet, I’m glad I kept these pieces and I’m having fun putting together new outfits with old favorites.

If the shoe fits: Sam Edelman ‘Peter’ Leather Bootie

I’ve been on the hunt for a new pair of black booties with a low heel, something that I could wear with jeans or dresses and that I could comfortably tote around a 10 month old in without limping around. I love browsing on Nordstrom online because they always have a great variety of shoes from different brands and they have great customer service. I originally wanted to get the Sam Edelman ‘Petty’ bootie which look similar to the ‘Peter’, except they cut lower at the ankle and don’t have the buckle embellishment at the side. But I was drawn to the gold hardware that made the ‘Peter’ a little different from the rest and made them a little dressier.

They weren’t available at any of the Nordstrom stores in my area so I ordered them online. I would recommend getting them a half size smaller than your usual, I’m a 7.5 and I ended up returning them and getting the size 7. I felt like my heel was slipping with the larger size and I was worried they might stretch out more as I wore them in. The 7’s are perfect. I wore them today and they were quite comfortable, they still feel a little stiff around the ankles, but I know that will improve with wear.

I wore them pretty casually today with a sheer oversized top layered over a black trapeze style dress. I know the picture quality is awful, I snapped this quickly with my iphone before we headed out. Anyway, you get the idea.

Yes, that’s another pair of black booties in the background. 😀

Please share what shoes you’re loving lately!
